Kilcurry Tidy Towns 2008
Congratulations to Kilcurry Tidy Towns Group whose first entry in the national competition received a very favourable report. The efforts of the whole community are acknowledged in making an improvement in the appearance of their village and home places to achieve 198 marks in a possible maximum of 400. Best mark was for the Control of Litter, of which there was plenty, and this is an area in which everybody can do a lot to gain more marks.
Local PoetJim Craven, “Bard of Balregan”
Our neighbour Jim Craven is commemorated in his rich poetry which appears on the website “Jim Craven ‘Bard of Balregan’”.
Inscriptions from Ballymascanlon Churchyard have been added to the site.
FHPPS gratefully acknowledges the support of the Environment Section in Louth County Council.
Kane Parish Pound has now been cleaned up and the outline of the walls has been restored. The entrance to the Souterrain, which is within the walls of the Pound, has been protected and has had a cover fitted. This work was carried out with the assistance of Peace II Louth County Council-led Task Force.
